2024 State Procurement Job Shadow Challenge
A day in the life of a procurement officer
Are you ready to cultivate lasting relationships with local high schools and inspire the next generation of procurement officers? If so, then we have a challenge for you!
This March, in celebration of Procurement Month, we're launching a friendly competition among states for the remainder of the year. We're challenging your office to collaborate as a team and host the highest number of students through job shadowing. You can hold as many shadowing days as you wish before the year draws to a close.
Here's how to participate:
-
Connect with Local High Schools
Reach out to high schools in your area and build relationships with career advisors (if you need help, let us know!). Find out how you can spread the word about public procurement to interested students.
-
Host Students for Job Shadowing
Coordinate day-long opportunities that give students a firsthand look at the daily responsibilities of a procurement officer. Show them the ropes, answer their questions, and inspire them with your work.
-
Win Big
The state that hosts the most students will win an opportunity to bring a high school student to the 2025 NASPO REACH Conference, fully funded. Every participating state will celebrate the connections and interest fostered in their community!
